Edison Sailing Center

Edison Sailing Center is a community-based, youth sailing center that offers learn-to-sail programs as well as marine activities (fishing, paddleboarding, windsurfing, powerboat safety) during the summer and a school year program for all levels of youth sailing, including those interested in racing. Its physical location is 13001 N. Cleveland Avenue, in North Shore Park, just over the US 41 bridge connecting Fort Myers with North Fort Myers.

Edison's instructional staff are US Sailing Level 1 certified instructors and those who teach the US Powerboating course are also US Powerboat Level 1 certified instructors. ESC hosts clinics with guest coaches quarterly, usually at no cost to its members. In addition, Edison hosts one of the SE's larger US Junior Olympic Regattas every October.

ESC provides training opportunities each spring for qualified candidates who wish to acquire their Level 1 certifications. During 2014, we will include a Level 2 training in sailing.

Established for more than 30 years in Lee County, Edison provides community outreach opportunities: collegiate sailing, scouting merit badge work, collaborations with the Sea Scouts, Quality Life Center, and church youth groups, and is proud to partner with Lee County Parks & Recreation, the Town of Fort Myers Beach, FGCU, CMCS, and the City of Fort Myers. Edison is pleased to provide training for First Responders annually on the south shore of the Caloosahatchee River.

In 2011, ESC was recognized by US Sailing with the Outstanding Year Round Program award. Edison is a parent-volunteer driven non-profit organization and welcomes inquiries about its programs and activities.
